About This Property

Mountain Time RV Park and Cabins (formerly Tall Texan) has been in operation for over 50 years. We are located in Gunnison/Crested Butte Valley, 2 miles north of downtown Gunnison, and 25 miles south of Crested Butte. We provide RV Sites, Cabins, Conestoga Wagons (Glamping) and Tent Sites. We have clean & well-maintained restrooms & showers, laundry facilities, propane services, a dump station, and a lodge with limited food and beverage items available for purchase. We have excellent wireless internet throughout the property.

We are kid friendly and have a nice playground for the little ones. We are also a quick walk to the Gunnison river, so fishing is at our doorstep!!

We offer seasonal (May – Oct), monthly, weekly, and daily rentals. Our cabins are fully equipped, in fact we rent them monthly as well as they are more than adequate to live in!! New this year are our Conestoga Wagons!! The wagons are outfitted with premium bedding, pillows, towels, and offer the finest “Glamping” experience.

"The place to stay in Gunnison"

"Best RV Park in Colorado"

Buried in the trees but just 2 miles to downtown Gunnison. what a treat. Check out the Conestoga Wagons. super cool staff as well!!!

"Lovely, Forested Campground"

The Tall Texan is a quiet, cozy campground located adjacent to the Gunnison River in a grove of aspen trees. A row of private residences blocks direct access to the river, unless you walk back to Highway 135. But if you have bicycles, there is excellent access to the Gunnison river bike trail. We enjoyed much better WiFi access than at most RV parks, except during the "everybody wants to stream Netflix" hours. Our site was relatively close to the main office in a line-of-sight sense, so I cannot comment on the WiFi connectivity at the edges of the park. We enjoyed our stay very much, and will definitely stay there again the next time we visit the Gunnison / Crested Butte area.
