Local Area & Attractions

Kentucky Lake is a fisherman's dream! The lake is known for outstanding crappie and bass fishing with several major tournaments held each year. In addition, panfish such as bluegill and shellcrackers are plentiful as well as catfish, sauger and white bass. Paris is home of the "World's Largest Fish Fry". The festival is held every year and culminates on a weekend, on the last full week in April, with a parade, an arts and crafts fair, a rodeo and a fun fair. Parts of the festivities include the "catfish races." There is a sign which features a roughly 20-foot (6.1 m) long catfish that can be seen when entering the town from the south on U.S Route 79. As Kentucky Lake is only a 20 minute drive from downtown, fishing is a popular activity.

Paris Winery is designed with Venetian-style architecture and produces 26 varieties of wine. Tours and tastings occur daily. Make a toast with the Paris Winery Spumante, creating an exciting bubbly sensation on the palate. Enjoy an evening snuggled up by a roaring fire with the Ruby Red’s chocolaty texture and rich black cherry and raspberry tones.
