About This Property

Koreshan State Park is the home of the Koreshan Unity Settlement, the pioneering colony that led the development of Estero in the mid 1890’s. Today, the Settlement is comprised of the 11 remaining historic buildings where you can return to an earlier era to see how the Koreshan community lived and experienced life in those earlier days. Though an extensive volunteer base, the park has numerous interpretive exhibits happening throughout the week (see our Events Page) during our winter season. Ranger, docent, and self-guided tours will help you appreciate the many hardships and triumphs these settlers experienced while trying to develop their homestead in the harsh Florida landscape.

The park also offers many of the outdoor activities you expect from a Florida State Park including hiking, camping, picnicking, and fishing. A large pavilion is located in the picnic area which can be rented for large get-togethers. The boat ramp on the Estero River provides access to Estero Bay (Florida’s first Aquatic Preserve) and Mound Key Archeological State Park. Canoe and kayak rentals are available at the Ranger Station for guests to enjoy the river serenity and see many of southwest Florida’s wildlife species at a more relaxed pace.

For overnight stays, the park has a full-facility campground. Campers can enjoy campfire programs every Saturday night starting in December and every Wednesday and Saturday from January through March. The park is easily located on U.S. 41 at Corkscrew Road.

Koreshan State Park offers numerous events at the park throughout the year, including a weekly Farmers Market every Sunday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Be sure to visit our Events Page to see what’s happening and when! Come visit us to experience the Real Florida!

"Another Fabulous Fl State Park"

This was a great state park! The sites were easy to back in and mostly private. They have sewer and water hook ups and a good dump station. There is a ton to do in this park.. the historic site, reenactments, Farmers market, kayaking, hiking, etc... (a lot is currently closed because of 2020). The staff and camp hosts were FANTASTIC. The overall location near Fort Myers is great for getting in some beach or boating! We have this a high rating because we love Fl state parks. Keep in mind, it is a state park, so it is sandy ground (yuck when it rains), no sewer, we had a power blip, and the sites are narrow! Overall, we loved it and will definitely go back!!!
