What Kind of RVer Are You?
08-01-2016

RVs, trailers and pop-up campers have come a long way in the past hundred or so years that they have been in existence. There have been so many improvements both inside and outside. More people than ever are taking up the amazing trend of RVing but what kind of RVer are you? There are some exceptions of course, but as I see it you can into one of 3 different categories.
The Long Weekend Warriors
This group is filled with people of many different ages that work hard and play harder. These groups are usually very adventurous and out to enjoy what little time they have on their weekends away from responsibility. Many families with children fall into this group. Heading out to the beach to play in the ocean or out to the desert to ride dirt bikes are just a couple of ways the LWWs spend their time. If you are looking for an alternative to expensive hotels and want to head out to your favorite music festival, this is the type of RVer you are.
The Full Time Trekkers
The number of full-time RV/Trailer residences has grown tremendously over the past 10 years. There are several different types of “full-timers.” When our economy went a little haywire, countless folks lost or sold their homes. Many of those people decided to become full-timers and are now living out of their RVs or trailers. Others decided that retirement would be more fun if they were traveling. These retirees typically sell their homes and move into large sized coaches and enjoy the freedom that comes with RVing. Many retired folks will work small jobs to supplement income on the road. Still there is a third type of full-timer, those are the professional Nomads. These nomads understand that these days you can work from anywhere, as long as you have an internet connection. Making their living in the virtual world and spending their days virtually enjoying all they can take in. Sounds good to me!
The Home Away From Homers
This lucky group of people gets to have the best of both worlds. They are typically at retirement age but may not have yet retired. They have worked hard to pay for their homes and do not intend on selling them. They use their coaches as a second home and enjoy using it as a tax write off. Depending on what type of weather they enjoy, they will travel with the seasons. I have always told my children that I will be a home away from homer when I retire. I envision myself spending time with my 10 or so grandchildren while parked in front of my children’s’ homes and sleeping in my coach; then hitting the road just in time to have a beautiful summer in a cooler climate and a lovely winter in a warmer climate. Yes, I think that is the kind of RVer I will be…someday.
There are all kinds of people that own RVs and trailers; from the retirees to the working for the weekend crew. No matter what type you are, the MobileRVing lifestyle gives you freedom to live anywhere you like for as long as you like. With nothing to hold you back, take advantage and get out on the road. Happy Trails!
