Valentine’s Day on the Road
Valentine’s Day is the time for love and for treating that special someone to all their heart’s desires. When you think of that special day with that special someone, what thoughts come to mind? Romantic dinner? A weekend getaway? Flowers? Chocolates? Jewelry? Okay, these are the things that come to my mind. Here is the best news for all the RVers out there, you can have it all. Even those full timers that live with children or grandparents keeping the kids for your kids, Valentine’s Day can still be special and even romantic.

Places to Go

New Orleans, LA is an incredibly romantic place to visit. There are many things to do in the city itself and a ton of history to show off to the grandchildren. Some of the RV parks in the area are The French Quarter RV Park and the 3 Oaks & a Pine RV Park. Or,
Pontchartrain Landing is beautiful! Being that Mardi-Gras will end on February 9th, you should probably call ahead to reserve a spot. There is always something exciting to do in New Orleans and so much amazing food to eat. It may turn your “weekend getaway” into a month long getaway.

Corpus Christi, TX is not only romantic, but it is full of beautiful sunsets and miles of gorgeous beaches. You can enjoy a fantastic dinner by the beach or take the kids down to the water to play in the sand. One of the best restaurants to enjoy on your visit is the Republic of Texas Bar & Grill. It sits on the 20th floor of The Omni Hotel and is one of the best views in the city. No matter how you slice it, this city will provide you an unbelievable place to have your “romantic dinner.”

San Francisco, CA, in my much biased opinion (I live in the Bay area), is one of the most romantic places in the world. However, it can also be an extraordinary adventure for the younger ones. The restaurants alone are just to die for. The piers; the skyline; the Golden Gate bridge,
are just a few of the spectacular things to see. Within a 50 mile radius you can see the high rises and the beach. It is the type of place you will never forget with plenty of shopping to get you your flowers, chocolates, and jewelry.

Enjoying the Space
If you are looking for a romantic night at home, there are several ways to dress up you coach to make the mood a little more romantic. I really think candles always set the mood. In the smaller space of your RV, I would recommend using the battery operated LED candles. You can purchase them at any home goods store or online. Dim the lights, light the candles, and add a nice bottle of wine and let the night begin. For even more romance, set some nice flower pots around the outside of the coach and build a warm cozy fire to snuggle in front of. Add some s’mores to your fire and you have the Valentine candy covered.

If you have the kiddies for the holiday, it is a great time to take out the craft paper and glitter. Since it is difficult for you and your honey to have any alone time in the close quarters of your coach, unless they are otherwise occupied (wink-wink). There is nothing more fun for the younger crowd than making their own Valentine cards and passing them out to loved ones. Truth be told, I kind of enjoy it too. Do not forget to start that campfire for the kids too. Everyone loves Valentine s’mores…especially the kids!
