Advances in technology provide new tools and toys to improve and enhance daily life. Exciting developments are constantly popping up across nearly every marketplace with innovative new ideas expanding and enveloping new horizons. In the world of recreational vehicles these new technologies often appear in the form of handy gizmos and gadgets that improve life on the road. Space saving and light-weight improvements are always good to keep in mind while a look into updating standard mechanical aspects - from brakes and tires to air-conditioning units - is also something to consider. Newer RVs come with many upgrades and high-tech improvements. You can also enhance an older vehicle with any number of aftermarket parts available for purchase. Here’s a look at some of the top RV tech for 2019.
Electronics
ONEcontrol. This software works with your touch screen interface or smartphone to control many of your RVs systems that were traditionally handled separately or manually. Control everything from lighting to leveling, awnings to HVAC with the touch of a button. A cool upgrade for any tech savvy RV enthusiast.
Cell Signal Booster. Handy if you are planning on spending any time in remote regions and also for safety and peace of mind. Works by amplifying cell signals around your RV so you receive better signal and helps to avoid dropped calls and dead zones.
TireMinder. An automatic and effective way to keep an eye on your tire pressure. There are a variety of options to suit any type and size of RV. A simple cap on your tire valve keeps a steady eye on the pressure and alerts you to changes via a small monitor.
Solar Powered Cell/Accessory Charger. These are an easy addition to your set-up to draw less power from the main batteries to charge smaller devices. Small, affordable and easy to use while coming in handy if you end up on some other adventure outside the RV.
Lithium Batteries. These batteries cost more than the traditional lead-based variety but pack a lot more power and are a necessity if you are looking to upgrade a solar power system. New RVs will most likely be dealing with lithium batteries for their longevity, safety and power output for years to come.
Electric Fly Swatter. Not a necessity but a pretty effective, and amusing, method of dealing with any insect issues. Plus, you might make some friends at the RV park performing pest control.
RV EZ Level. Makes leveling your rig easy. Just place in the middle of the floor and this unit will let you know when you have both axels just right. If you’re the type to demand a perfectly level parking spot, this is the tool for you.
Mechanical
StickNBond Tape. This tape is effective if you damage your roof or walls. Useful in a variety of situations and always essential to have on board, this waterproofing tape will stop leaks until you can make proper repairs.
Power Source/Jump Starter. Having one of these units around can really save the day if your battery goes down for any reason or in case of emergency. Portable, efficient and highly recommended these units are available from many manufacturers and can serve as an emergency backup in a host of situations.
Tires. Many options to choose from but make sure you pick something safe and reliable. The technology of tires does not change much from year to year but it’s worth reading reviews if you’re looking for a change.
