The RVing Trend- Why it is so Popular Now

Why is RVing so popular right now? For decades people have gone camping but recently there has been a surge in those going RVing. So, why now? Why is RVing so popular? There are many reasons for this trend, and I’d like to share those reasons with you. I hope that after you learn why and do some research that you might catch the RVing bug and hit the road too.

There are many great reasons that so many people of all ages and status are joining the booming outdoor Industry! What are your reasons for your love of life on the road?

Financial
I know for us financial freedom played a part in our decision to RV full-time. You have no mortgage or rent, no utility bills if planned correctly, and, if you do not miss TV you have no cable bill. We supplemented our loss of TV/internet by using free services. We belong to several campgrounds and resorts that offer free tv and internet. You can also use your phone as a wi-fi hotspot. There are many RV/camping organizations to choose from. For us it was a huge savings and peace of mind knowing we would have a camping spot available several months in advance. With many of these packages you can travel extensively, stay month to month, seasonally or even yearly.

Freedom
I travel for the freedom to be free; free from bills, stress, and let’s be honest, a mundane life. What do you do when residing in a home? Many of us were caught up in the rat race of getting up and going to work in an office every day. Even those who have retired sometimes find themselves doing the same old thing day after day. RVing can allow you to experience things like hiking, swimming, fishing, kayaking, zip-lining, mountain biking, and exploring. Travel by RV offers constantly changing and amazing views, spectacular sunsets and new adventures every day. However, if sitting by the campfire, kicking back in a lounge chair and telling stories is your thing – you can do that too.

Social Interaction
RVing is popular because it offers a great deal of social interaction if that is something you enjoy. We stay at a lot of resorts and they have planned activities that bring strangers closer together. Bingo and card games member led are favored by many. There was a campground that we stayed at in Alabama that had bingo every week. Another social event held at camp was the yearly Heehaw Show completely put on by the campers. In Ohio at a resort in Kimbolton, Ohio they have line dancing classes and karaoke night. Down on the Mohican river they have canoe trips and planned activities like chocolate weekend that involves a 200 foot long chocolate slide! There’s nothing quite like the memories made around a campground firepit.

Isolation
On the flip side of socialization if you are looking for isolation RVing is where it is at. Many people choose to RV to experience isolation, get away from the city life and be as far from a neighbor as they can. Off grid camping, dry camping and Boondocking are all appealing for someone who finds themselves more of a loner.

Technology
Technology may be the biggest reason for the sudden interest in RVing especially full-time. There are a lot more jobs, careers and opportunities for people to be entrepreneurs now than ever before and it is thanks to technology. RVing used to be just for the retired but not anymore! Thanks to technology we are seeing more and more younger folks hitting the road and bringing their families with them.

Health
It is a known fact that RVing promotes a healthy and active lifestyle. I can tell you for a fact that since traveling my health has improved greatly. No more sinus issues, no more stomach problems and my blood pressure decreased to a normal level. Traveling decreases stress, offers better sleep, and keeps you moving. When camping you are exposed to more sunlight, more activity and fresh air.

Homeschooling
Homeschooling has been around for decades just like camping but thanks to several things mentioned above like technology, financial freedom and socialization, homeschooling has blossomed. More and more families are taking to the road and giving their children the experience of a lifetime by road schooling their children.

Conclusion
Full-time RVing is not for everyone but it might just be for you. Take a hard look at the reasons why others are jumping on the RV wagon and then ask yourself why not me and why not now?
