So said Heraclitus of Ephesus (c. 500BC) and we find it is still true today.
Teresa and I have made many changes in our lives since leaving our corporate lives. For years, she was on blood pressure medicine. That stopped soon after retirement.

We used to get up to at 5:30am to get our workouts in. We work out when we want to now.

We would take short vacations to our favorite places but had smart phones keeping us connected to the office(s). Now we are on “vacation” all the time, staying in warmer weather longer so Teresa can continue to wear her flip flops and rarely using the smart phone for work while playing. Okay, we still work part-time with RV properties in Florida, South Carolina, New Jersey and Tennessee. We work with close to 45 RV resorts across those States? Why do we do it?
Working with the RV properties gives us a chance to answer the perennial question; why does this place exist? Is it a factory town where one company dominated the area? Is is an agricultural power with wonderful fresh produce? An historical area where we can see history come to life in front of us? We get to learn about the area and boy, we have learned some cool things along the way. More on that in a later blog! Promise.

Whatever the reason the area exists, we get to see it first hand as we work with our RV properties in that area. We meet a large number of local businesses as we connect the RV properties and businesses in the Southeast Publications Guest Guide program. We move every 10 days to 2 weeks to a new location but most of the time, we are moving in the same region. We were recently in East Tennessee, the Pigeon Forge area and we stayed in three different wonderful RV properties for 10 days each. We work with groups of RV properties in a region because it is a better use of time, helps market the properties better to the local businesses who only have to see one rep to reach all of the properties’ RV guests. A win-win-win for all.

While we see different people around the Southeast US, the funny thing is most of us want the same things in life. To be happy. To be with loved ones. To be loved. That has not changed as we travel. Sometimes, we find people who have lived in their corner of the world ALL of their lives. Their perception of the world is somewhat skewed to that corner. We have to agree with what Mark Twain once said -“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one’s lifetime.”
By traveling, we change our scenery often. We learn to see the world, the issues from other points of view. Change can be very good if you embrace it versus running from it. Change can stimulate the senses, make you have to think and realize there is more than one way to do something. Change forces one to either grow or fall behind if you decide to curl up in a ball and hide from it. Traveling and change go hand in hand because you cannot travel without changing your world. And yet, we find some of the friendliest people in the world as we RV. RVers live well with change as they travel often. So what does this mean for the reader?
If you RV, you probably handle change well in your life. On the other hand, if you don’t like change, you probably won’t like RVing.
So what are the top reasons people love to RV:
FREEDOM (to go where and when they wish)
BEING WITH THOSE THEY LOVE (traveling together, experiencing life together)
HAVE THEIR PETS WITH THEM (the majority of RVers have pets, mainly dogs on their travels)
SLEEP IN THEIR OWN BED (and know it is clean, no bed bugs)
So when you consider getting into the RV lifestyle, and we are loving the lifestyle, you need to look in the mirror and be honest…do you like change? If yes, RVing offers lots of change which can truly help you grow, keep your mind sharp, increase your social circle with new friends and lifetime memories. Traveling in your RV should be stressless, driven casually because you are not in a hurry. Life is out there waiting to be discovered. Go and and see it in an RV. You will be constantly changing but in this case – Change is Good!
