The Best Places to Go RVing on the Beach

There’s nothing quite like RVing on the Beach! If there are two things that scream “Summer” they’re camping and beach days. For this reason, it only makes sense to put the two together to create the most amazing summer combo ever: camping beach days! After all, you can take your RV anywhere, so why not park as close as possible to the beach?

There are plenty of places to do this and doing so will give you the ultimate vacation experience without requiring you to leave the comforts of home behind.

Wondering where to go beach camping? The following options are some of our very favorite places to park our rig, be lulled to sleep by the sounds of the ocean and wake up to gorgeous rays of sunshine and tons of sandy fun.

Oceanside RV Resort and Campground

Coos Bay, Oregon

Let’s begin way up in the northwest. Oregon isn’t exactly known for its sunny beach days, but it does have some seriously beautiful beaches that are well worth visiting if you’re in the area. This is especially true if you can plan to be in the state sometime in the mid-to-late summer, when the weather tends to be dry and quite warm.

One of our favorite beach camping spots in Oregon is Oceanside RV Resort and Campground. The pet-friendly beach here is perfect for those visiting with puppies or kiddos, and the many tide pools are tons of fun to explore.

Of course, the fishing and crabbing opportunities are also amazing and can lead to some wonderful camping meals.

Assateague State Park

Berlin, Maryland

Ever dreamed of waking up on a beach surrounded by horses? If so, Assateague State Park is where you need to go. This amazing park allows visitors to camp on the beach. Simply walk around the sand dunes and you’ll be treated to gorgeous views of the ocean.

Even better, you’ll probably spot several feral horses during your stay. These beautiful animals can only be found in a few places in North America, so getting to see them up close and personal is definitely something special.

Of course, the park boasts more than horses and amazing beachfront camping. In addition to these things, you’ll also be able to enjoy swimming, surfing, or fishing. Canoeing and kayaking are also options and offer guests an opportunity to explore the flora and fauna of the area.

South Padre Island KOA

South Padre Island, Texas

Moving way down into southern Texas, South Padre Island KOA was a shoo-in for this list. This lovely island has what are easily the prettiest beaches in all of Texas, and perhaps some of the prettiest in the US. The sand is light and soft, the sun is almost always shining, and the water is a beautiful shade of blue.

This particular park is great because it offers incredible views, organized activities, and out-of-this-world amenities. The RV parking is not located on the beach itself, but a gorgeous swimming beach is located only a short walk away.

Additionally, there are restaurants and plenty of other businesses within walking distance, making it completely unnecessary to drive during your stay. This is a huge bonus that makes your getaway even more relaxing.

Hobson Beach Park

Ventura, California

Another place with some seriously pretty beaches is Ventura, California. Here, you’ll find a number of amazing camping options offered through the County of Ventura Parks Department. All of these parks are lovely, but we are particularly fond of Hobson Beach Park.

This park offers guests full hookups in certain sites, as well as restrooms with showers, fire pits, and best of all, water views. That’s right, if you pick the right site, you can sit and look out over the Pacific Ocean without ever living your tiny home-on-wheels.

Believe it or not, the rates at this park are actually quite reasonable considering the beach location, amenities offered, and the fact that it’s in California. That said, the park books up really quickly, so you will want to plan in advance for this particular trip.

Bluewater Key Resort

Key West, Florida

Looking to escape the cold of winter? The Florida Keys are always warm and sunny, making them the ideal place to migrate for the winter. Best of all, there are numerous RV parks and resorts down in the Keys, meaning you’ll have your pick of places to stay.

That said, you will want to make reservations very early, as these parks can book up years in advance.

One of the best parks in the Keys—and therefore, one of the ones that books up fastest—is Bluewater Key Resort. This beautiful resort offers a wide variety of incredible amenities that helps you feel as though you’ve escaped into paradise. The best of these is that fact that you have an amazing ocean right outside your door and calling to you throughout your stay. What could be more luxurious than that?

Myrtle Beach State Park

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Finally, we must talk a bit about Myrtle Beach. Myrtle Beach is a lovely and bustling beach town that everyone should visit at least once. Sure, it’s a bit touristy, but most of the good beach towns are, and this one is touristy in the best way possible.

That said, if you want to get away from the touristy area, there are ways to go about it. One of the best ways is to visit Myrtle Beach State Park. Not only does this park boast some of the prettiest beach options in the area, it also gives visitors an opportunity to enjoy nature at its finest. Better yet, it has campsites. These sites are clean, well kept, and offer water and electric hookups, among other things. Best of all, the sites are very affordable, something you wouldn’t expect to find in such an area.

These are our top six beach camping parks. That said, there are plenty of other amazing options all over the country. If you’re looking for other places to beach camp, we highly recommend checking out the beaches in New Jersey, as well as some of the northern Florida beaches. Galveston Island in Texas is also adorable and fun, and some of the Washington beaches are well worth seeing.

Go ahead and get out there and start exploring. We’re betting you won’t run out of options for new beach adventures anytime soon!
