The Best Furniture Piece for your RV

When it comes to traveling and living in an RV, either seasonally or full time, one thing is for sure, space is limited. Deciding what is essential to bring along can be a challenge; however, there is one particular item we have found to be beneficial in many ways.
No RV is complete without an ottoman. It is perhaps the most versatile piece of furniture fit for small spaces. Nowadays, consumers have the added bonus of choosing among an assortment of ottomans ranging in size, shape, color, fabric, and functionality. These multifaceted furnishings not only make RV spaces comfortable and practical for you and your traveling family, but they can serve many purposes for guests.
For You and your Traveling Family
Traditionally, ottomans were designed as foot rests; however, their purpose far exceeds this one role. Need a coffee table, a stepping stool, or an extra seat? An ottoman can do all three and much, much more!
Our preferred ottoman has a lid that flips open or is completely removable exposing an empty cavity. Besides the mentioned functions, these ottomans are great for storing items that would otherwise stack up and take up space in the RV like blankets or books. They are out of sight but still easily accessible, if needed.
For the Pets
Some of the most important members of our traveling family, our pets, benefit from our ottomans, as well. A bit of ingenuity can make ottomans meant for storage into creature comforts. A footstool can be converted into a cat or dog sleeping nook. A larger ottoman can house the cat’s litter box. No more unsightly waste sitting out for all to see. Of course, if DIY projects aren’t up your alley, don’t despair. There are ottomans specially made for these creature comforts.
A side note: our dog is getting older and getting up and onto chairs or the bed is turning into a struggle. An ottoman situated next to these locations serves as a step, climbing up and down safely.
One of the great things about full time RVing is meeting up with family and friends and meeting new faces all across the continent! We have hosted a few get togethers at our place. Extra seating and table tops with ottomans have assisted with accommodating extra bodies.
We have seen and thought about furnishing our rig with a sleeper ottoman as opposed to keeping our lumpy, cumbersome futon. These ottomans resemble a bench and contain a twin size cot that folds out for overnight stays.
After driving our motorhome out of the dealership lot, one of our first purchases was an ottoman. Our initial intent was to add additional storage we desperately needed even after our efforts to downsize and minimize our possessions.
