The Benefits of Using a Hydro-Hot System
Years ago camping was considered “roughing it.” These days with the latest and greatest innovations and brand new high-end coaches, it is more like “glamping it” (Glamorous-Camping). Some of these fancy toys can be skipped over and done without, but there are some things even the roughest and toughest campers cannot live without. Personally, I need to take a hot shower and I need a warm place to sleep. With the Hydro-Hot systems you can have both at once without having to worry about more than pushing a button.

The system used most regularly by diesel RV owners is the Aqua-Hot system. This system has so many benefits and maybe just a few downfalls.

On-Demand Heating
Unlike most RV water heaters, which stores a heated tank of water at all times, the Aqua-Hot heats your water on demand. This means no more waiting for the water to heat up again after your fellow Glampers have used up all the hot water.

Less Fill Ups
When using a propane fueled furnace you are liable to run out of propane a few times per week. Since an Aqua-Hot system can run off the generator, off the diesel fuel in your coach’s fuel tank, or from heat coming from your engine as you travel there is less of a need to fill up as often.

Keeping Toasty Warm Inside
Setting your coach thermostat to whatever your comfortable warm toasty temperature is can be done by simply by hitting the electrical switch or switching to diesel if you do not want to use up your power source. Your coach can be set at 70 degrees and you can still get that on-demand hot water.

Getting More for Your Money
So now that you know you can stay warm and get a warm shower, but what is the cost difference between propane and diesel fuel. Traditionally, diesel fuel is more expensive than propane. However, as anyone who runs their propane furnace for longer periods of time knows that you will be filling up your coach’s tanks a lot more than you will ever have to fill your diesel tank.

The Hydro-Hot systems are amazing and have sensors that allow you to control the temperature in different sections of your coach. For instance, the bedroom may be your main focus when you sleep and the galley is where you want to be toasty during waking hours. The greatest part of the Aqua-Hot system is that it has a brain of its own. If you have you temperature cranked up to keep you toasty and someone needs to shower the system will shut down the heat to warm your water on demand. Then it will turn around and kick right back in to optimum temperature. If the system is overloaded simply switch to diesel for that extra oomph.

So when you are thinking of buying a coach, consider the things you can and can’t live without. If heat and hot water are something you cannot do without, purchase a diesel pusher and allow the Hydro-Hot system to work its magic for you. Rather you are plugged into electric, using your generator, or dry camping you will still have all you need.
On a separate note, you will have to service your system every 1,000 hours or so. This is a task that can be handled easily at any certified RV service center. Happy Holidays and stay warm out there!
