Ah, the first motorhome. We all have that first memory of going camping, mine is a bit fuzzy but after a phone call to my sweet mother I will try to convey how each of us seven Kids preserved it!
It was many moons ago! I come from a family of 7 children, and our father was a Farmer. He raised Cattle & Alfalfa. It was a small Ranch of 200 Acres, and with seven kids you didn’t go on vacations to the Hilton! But Mom & Dad were determined to make a small vacation for all of us, so……Dad put the sides on his old Cattle Truck, threw some of the beds from our house in the back, and a dresser or two, and we were off!
It was Westport, Washington. A beautiful Beach for all of us children to play on, but I guess my 15 year old sister (the oldest one), was pretty embarrassed, according to Mom….teehee. But to all of little ones (I was #5) it was the best little vacation, ever! Dad sold hay, so he had traveled to this area before to scope it out, and even made friends with the local Grocery owner. What do you do when you have 7 kids, and need to feed them, ha-ha. Seriously though, I guess you can say we were one of the first homemade Motorhomes!
