Spring Is In The Air!
Enough with the cold weather already, Spring is finally here!

Cabin Fever is settling in and dreaming of warmer weather is constantly on our minds. I don't know about you, but I have been ready for spring since January. I have experienced enough good snowfall for playing, a snowmobiling trip, a White Christmas, and more than enough hot chocolate in front of the fireplace. Since then it has been "winter doldrums on steroids" at my house. Nothing exciting happening and too cold to go out if there was!

We can’t wait to hook up the camper and get away for the weekend. Spring is definitely in the air and its approach has a way of making us feel excited and eager for new activities.

Why not use that excitement to prepare for another fun camping season? Now is the time to perform routine maintenance checks and make repairs. Get out the camper or RV, check your roof and all the caulking around the windows, vents, air conditioners, and doors to make sure there are no cracks or missing caulk. Read "Keeping a Solid Roof Over Your Head" for tips.

Don’t forget to fire up the grill, dust off the patio furniture, charge all the batteries, and don't forget to check the golf cart. Once everything is in good mechanical condition, it's time for "spring cleaning" for all as well as time to buy and restock the camper with linens, paper products and other necessary items.

It’s a good idea to make a “camping checklist” tailored to your family needs to make sure everything in is order before you head out on our camping trip. Nothing worse than pulling into your favorite campground to discover you forgot the grill and the battery charger for the golf cart!

If you are a sports enthusiast you are probably ready for baseball season or to get back on the golf course. If you are a boater, I know you are itching to fire up the boat and head out for a great day on the water! After giving the boat a thorough check-up and safety review, you might also want to check that fishing equipment and make sure your boat registration, boating or fishing license has not expired.\

Here's a sample of a simple family camping checklist that you can use to help make yours:

Before you know it, it will be time to "hook up and move out". So plan now to have everything ship-shape before summer season begins. That way when someone shouts, "let's go camping" or "let's go fishing" or simply " let's go", you will be ready.

Get up, get going, get prepared, and get out there. Enjoy the best spring has to offer and start working on a whole new season of camping fun and family memoirs.

'Til next time!
