RV Kitchen Organization Hacks

I have to admit that cooking is not exactly my cup of tea. Cooking in an RV? There was a time when that was even less appealing.
RV kitchens are crowded, lacking in counter space, and never seem to have enough storage. Most people find that no matter much downsizing they do, they still have far too many dishes for the cabinets provided, and this fact—paired with the general lack of space—can definitely cause some serious frustration when it comes time to cook.
Fortunately, the full-time RVing crowd is really good at problem-solving. Below are just a few of the ingenious kitchen storage hacks I have learned from the best.
Hang a Knife Rack
Sticking your sharp knives in a camper drawer is just asking for trouble. This situation is liable to cut someone’s fingers, and the knives will eventually become too beaten-up to use.
Instead of using the drawers as knife storage, consider hanging a magnetic knife rack on the inside of a cabinet door. This will get those knives out of the way while still leaving them in easy reach when it’s time to make dinner. It’ll also save everyone’s fingers, which we can all agree is a definite bonus.
Display Your Mugs
Do you have a collection of pretty coffee mugs? Those things are nearly impossible to store efficiently when placed in a cabinet. Why not save the cabinet space and display your mugs? This can be done using simple cup hooks which can be hung over the sink or in any other out-of-the-way place. It will make it easy to find your favorite mug each morning and free up some of that cluttered cabinet space.
Invest in Stacking Storage
Boxes and containers of different shapes and sizes can make it very difficult to organize a pantry space. Normally this is a simple annoyance, but in an RV, it can mean you are unable to put all the groceries away. Therefore, this issue is one that simply must be solved.
The very best solution I’ve found comes in the form of stackable storage. By investing in storage containers that will stack and transferring all dry goods to these containers, you can easily save a ton of pantry space that would have been eaten up by oversized boxes otherwise.
Go For Shelvesze
If your RV cabinets don’t already have shelves, it’s high time you found some. IKEA is a great place to look for shelving to add to cabinets, and their products are typically reliable and inexpensive. Find some that work well for your kitchen cabinets and/or pantry, and marvel at how much space you’ll free up.
