We live in an age where new gizmos and RV gadgets are constantly being invented for everyday use. From robotic vacuums and hover-boards to self-driving cars and night vision, steady innovation seems to define life in current culture. These devices can range from mundane to essential and often help us tackle daily tasks with ease. For RV enthusiasts there are a whole host of RV gadgets out there that can make driving long hours and endless miles more enjoyable, easier and even downright fun! Here is a look at some of our favorite contraptions and tools to heighten your driving experience.
Automatic Pro Adapter
This nifty little unit plugs into an OBD-II (On-Board Diagnostic) port and keeps you updated on key aspects of your vehicles’ health alongside a bunch of other benefits. The Automatic Pro not only helps you to diagnose engine problems when they arise, but also uses 3G connectivity to call for help in case of emergencies. The small gadget can also track your vehicle in the event of theft, sync with a wide variety of apps including Alexa and log driving statistics and expenses. 3G service is included with the price and the Pro is compatible with most smartphones. Currently only available in the USA.

HUDWAY Cast Heads Up Display
This fine piece of engineering turns any smartphone into a futuristic, holographic-esque display on the dashboard to keep your eyes on the road while driving. The Cast HUD works with your phone to project an image above the steering wheel of any vehicle. The projected screen mirrors what is displayed on your phone allowing you watch navigation, control music and handle calls in a safe manner. The transparent screen automatically adjusts brightness depending on light conditions, keeping your hands on the wheel as conditions shift on the road. A great addition for any RVer, this gadget blends sleek, hi-tech design with a focus on safety, making it highly recommended for form and function.
Handpresso Auto
This one is for those coffee loving road warriors who despise watered down gas station brew. The Handpresso Auto is a compact and portable espresso maker specifically designed for crafting a cup in the car. This small machine plugs into any 12v outlet and can have a coffee ready for you to enjoy in about 2 minutes. The Handpresso has a water temperature setting and is compatible with both Italian style pods or your favorite ground beans. Get your hands on one of these and you’ll never have to stop for coffee again.
Car Swivel Tray
This cheap but ever so convenient gadget should have been invented years ago but needs to be on every RVers list of things to buy before their next adventure. The Trademark Global Car Swivel Tray is a plastic arm with a tray on one end and a base on the other which fits snuggly into any cup holder. The swivel tray allows the driver to easily stow items in close proximity (i.e. a cheeseburger and fries). It is a simple device but one that makes a world of sense and makes dining on the go a far less messy endeavor.
Dyson Cool Fans
If you’ve ever spent a summer camping in the south, you know how hard it can be to keep cool when trying to sleep. One of these bladeless fans by Dyson is a great solution to staying cool, and on your campground neighbors good side, without firing up the generator and AC. These fans really crank out the airflow and are a sleek and safe alternative to traditional bladed fans. They can easily fit into your sleeping quarters and plug into a standard outlet. The slim profile of these fans also allows them to blend into your mobile setup without being an obstruction.
WiFi Ranger
Whether working from the RV or trying to stream a movie at the campground, we’ve all dealt with poor internet connections while out on the road. The WiFi Ranger is the end to those problems. This portable WiFi range expander is a crucial addition to the rig for anyone who wants, or needs, to stay connected while the wheels are turning. This gizmo boosts existing WiFi signal and can even pick up the internet from a source up to two miles away! It also encrypts your connection for security purposes, giving you peace of mind when camped at some far-off location. The Ranger is small, easy to set up and well worth the cost to keep you connected and up to speed.

Mini Solar Charger
Solar technology has come a long way in recent years and with many small, portable options available, having one of these around your RV can come in handy if you are boon-docking in a remote region or camped somewhere without hookups. The bulletproof design of the Goal Zero Nomad 7 Plus makes it fool proof and easy to use. Charge up the battery in any sunny location and the Nomad 7 will keep your cellphone, GPS and any other small USB type device ready for action. The panel is even weather resistant and can stand up to a dose of rain or snow if you are desperate to capture a few UV rays on a cloudy day.
Wireless Weather Station
Knowing what conditions lay in wait on the road ahead can be a crucial heads-up in keeping you prepared, alert and informed while you drive – utterly important while cruising in an RV. While many phones have access to weather information, they can often be inaccurate and often downright wrong. A wireless weather station can provide information including barometric pressure, temperature and humidity more accurately and effectively than relying on the data service of your smartphone. La Crosse Technology makes a wide array of these units from the basic to the advanced and everything in between. With one of these in your gadget arsenal, you can become a motor home meteorologist in no time, keeping tabs on mother nature and ensuring the safety of family and friends on board.
