Panhandling
Recently, on a trip west through Florida’s panhandle, we spent some time at Falling Waters State Park in Chipley, FL. Located in the park is a 73 foot waterfall, the highest in the state. Sinkholes are common in some areas of Florida. The sinkholes in the park were used by the Seminole Indians to hide from Andrew Jackson’s soldiers during the Seminole Wars.

Also located in the park is the site of the first oil well in Florida and a Civil War era gristmill and distillery. The park is home to a beautiful spring-fed swimming lake with a shaded beach.

The main campground is on one of the highest hills in Florida at 324 feet. Reserve early, the park is only 24 sites.

The Wandering Jews LogoAbout the Bloggers: Sheila and Bob Jaffe retired in 2008 from a printing business that they owned in Boca Raton, FL. In 2009 we started RVing. We had never towed anything, but we were undaunted and set out on our first trip, which lasted 4-1/2 months. We left from our home in sunny south Florida to visit one of our daughters in San Francisco, CA. Along the way, we stayed in 41 different RV parks, we learned a lot about RVing, and we visited 18 National Parks and discovered that we really liked RVing. We found that for us “home is where you park it”.
