More Clever RV Gadgets (that you need right now!)
By Stephanie A. Mayberry

This piece began its life as a completely different topic, but as I researched/window shopped I realized it was taking a dramatically different turn. I think it was around the time I got sucked into Pinterest (if you don’t ever get sucked into Pinterest I’m pretty sure you have no soul) that I realized the piece was writing itself – and going in a totally different direction.

Yes, I have written on RV gadgets before, but these are super cool, no, really, they are! I think you’ll feel the same way.

Ingenious Shoe Rack
OK, this is more of a hack, but what a clever idea! I saw the pin which led me to a blog post with photos. Basically, you get the wall mounted planters (they are called horse trough planters), hang them on your wall and put shoes in them. No more shoes laying around to clutter things up, no more mud tracked throughout the RV. I can see this mounted just inside the door of an RV, ready to catch shoes as soon as they come in.

RV Surge Protector
It happens more often than we’d like to think. You roll up to an RV campsite, hook up everything and the power pole turns out to be miswired or faulty and you fry most of your electrical gadgets. What a nightmare! While the park or your insurance will pay for most of the damage, who wants to go through all that hassle? An RV surge protector will help guard against this disaster and you can rest easy.

RV Water Pressure Regulator
Water pressure at most RV campgrounds tend to be an issue, albeit usually because the pressure is too low. However, there are some sites where the water pressure is off the charts and this can wreck plastic RV plumbing pipe fittings. Installing an RV water pressure regulator can really save the day – and they aren’t all that expensive.

RV Solar Power System
This is way cool, especially if you like to boondock. I love the idea of sustainable alternative energy sources and have long been fascinated by solar power as well as wind and hydro power. Between you and me, my dream is to one day be off grid – well, maybe still have internet, I gotta write – but the rest of me would be off grid. Anyway, this is a great how-to for installing an RV solar power system. Yeah, it’s not a gadget, per se, but it involves a gadget, several of them to be exact. I realize that solar power is rather costly to get into, materials and installation can be very expensive and I would have to sell a kidney or something to get our rig outfitted, but someday, ah, someday.

RV Wind Generator
Speaking of sustainable alternative energy sources, this cool gadget harnesses the wind and turns it into a viable power source. The Windwalker Wind Generator is basically a small windmill that mounts to the top of your RV. It is pretty impressive and the owners of the company have taken special care to keep costs down so this may be a more affordable option if solar power is cost prohibitive.

Your own Personal Campfire
I thought this was cool and am seriously thinking of picking one up for us. It’s called the Little Red Campfire and it is pure genius! The entire “campfire” is contained and there is even a lid. It runs on propane and has a shut off switch so even campground that don’t allow actual fires will allow this. You can have your own campfire/fire pit anytime, anywhere.

Camp Stove Phone Charger
Yes, you read that right. This incredibly cool gadget is a smokeless wood burning camp stove. Boil water, cook food, make s’mores, oh, and charge your smartphone or other mobile devices while you are at it. It is called the BioLite Camp Stove and it is a pretty awesome idea. I think I might need one of these.
Well, that’s all I have for this time. Do you have any gadgets that you think are uber cool? Share that coolness with me by leaving a comment and telling me all about it.
