Happy 4th of July-RV Style
Summer is in full swing and the fireworks are almost ready. This is the time of year that most people like to be out and about for the big Independence Day celebrations. Here are some tips for planning and celebrating the holiday in style.

Where’s The Party?
When picking a location for your 4th of July celebration you will need to do a little research. First of all, what are you looking for when it comes to celebrating? If you are a patriotic planner there is nothing better than finding a campground near a historical landmark. For instance, the Liberty Bell in Philly or Mount Rushmore in South Dakota. Spend the day taking in the sites and teaching your family a little about the history of our great nation. If big community picnics and traditional firework displays are your thing, find a campground that has a family day planned and fireworks nearby. I recommend Lake Tahoe, CA; their fireworks display is one of the best I have ever seen.

Who’s On the Guest List?
Once you have decided where to go it is time to get your party squad together. If you are planning to travel with a large group of campers with multiple coaches, get your reservation done at least 3 months ahead. If you are looking strictly for family time to build special memories, plan out your day’s activities and set an itinerary that will allow you to get all your planned activities covered. Some historical landmarks may need reservations on a holiday weekend so call ahead to check the schedule. There are those who love to celebrate with a quiet intimate date for two (that special someone), I would suggest camping in a less known camping spot that has spacious grounds so you are not right on top of your neighbors.

What Should You Bring?
When packing your coach for your 4TH OF July celebration, be sure to pack the necessities but you will also want to bring along some things to make the day special. If you will be camping in a place that allows fireworks, stock up early on the legal fireworks. Everyone should carry a fire extinguisher in their coach but you will need to check it to be sure it is not out of date. Decorations are a must have. If you are going simple, some patriotic tablecloths and plates will suffice. If you are a go all out kind of person, streamers and lights along your coach and awning are a good start. You can set out lawn decorations around your campsite and decorate inside as well. With the 4th you can go simple or as gaudy as you like. There really is no “over the top” when it comes to celebrating our great country. Bring along a barbeque and plenty of good old hamburgers and hotdogs and your celebration will be one to remember.

The time is here and now with some help on the “who, what, and where”; you will have an amazing campout. There are no limits to what you can do to show your patriotism on this much loved holiday. It is all about getting out there and celebrating our freedom. Dust off those American flag swim trunks and your best patriotic hat. Pack yourselves up and let the fireworks begin. Happy fourth and as always…Happy Trails!
