Evolution of Our Travels
So we passed the two year mark full timing and are coming up on the two year mark of our travels. The reason these dates are different is because we moved into the RV in December to prep our house to sell and took off down the road in March.

Our route starts and ends in Florida every year, this is to see family and to work on the rig. Last year we replaced the flooring and couch. This year we plan on resealing the roof, adding a slide out tray for Jim's tools, and adding a basement freezer (hopefully to hold all of the fish we will catch in Alaska this year). We will also be taking the RV to a repair shop to have the hydro hot serviced and hopefully they will be able to figure out why it is hit and miss heater.
We are going to be resealing the roof because while in Truckee surviving a major snow storm we had water intrusion. We are not sure if it came in through snow melting in the fan shields or through the roof but since our rig is now 13 years old it is time to reseal the roof either way. My husband has been watching YouTube videos of different ways to accomplish this as there are a lot of different products with different cost and we hope to find the cheapest one that actually works.

We are also going to modify the basement. When we started out we purchased three plastic containers to put Jim's tools in. The problem is every time Jim needs something he has to pull out the slide, pull out the containers, and dig through them to find the tools he needs. Our goal is to take an area of the basement that is currently a catch all and add a slider tray. We will then add a toolbox and tool bag so that he will not have to dig around trying to find the right tools. Since we drive 25,000+ miles a year in an older rig repairs are something that come up quite often so this is something that will make Jim's job easier which means more time to enjoy the areas we are traveling to. I will be taking before and after pics when we get back home next week as I think this is something that many full timers will find beneficial.

The other modification is to add a small freezer in the basement. Even though we have a residential freezer we found ourselves refusing free fish last summer for lack of space. With fish prices as high as they are and our goal of eating healthier this seems criminal. The two options are to buy a Dometic which is a bit over $700 and putting it on a slide which is $220 or buying a compact stand up freezer that will go in the space for around $500. I have a bit more research to do before deciding but am quickly running out of time to make this happen.

We do plan on playing a bit while home also. We will spend the first week making repairs and doing a spring cleaning of the closets and basement. Anything that was not used this last year will be donated and hopefully will open up some space. The second week will be spent in the infield of the Daytona Speedway watching the practice and races leading up to the Daytona 500. This is one of the experiences that everyone should try once. Even if you are not a huge fan of the racing it is definitely different from the infield then on TV. The people watching is just as entertaining as the racing. The third week will be spent visiting family and working a couple of parks in Daytona before heading up to South Carolina to spoil our grandbabies for two weeks.

We are living the dream! Traveling from Florida to Alaska with our two dogs in an RV, pulling our jeep. We sold our home and hit the road full time. We love to jeep, mountain bike, horseback ride, photography, kayak, hike, explore new towns, meet new people, learn new things, and live every minute of life. We still work to pay the bills but found a great job with Southeast Publications that allows us to travel and earn money at the same time. Check out our personal blog page HERE.
