Day Two: Crossing Canada to Alaska

After the bit of a rough start to our day, it ended perfectly. We made it into Banff National Park, and sadly did not see any wildlife traveling through, then entered Jasper National Park. Last year we travelled to Alaska without realizing our new shocks were broken so the trip was even bumpier than normal.
After a great night sleep (I left the window next to the bed cracked so the clean crisp air came in all night) we were up and on the road by 8am. We leisurely finished the drive out of Jasper (spotting our first black bear) and turned north heading to Prince George. Blue skies and mountain views make for a great drive. I have to say that having a generator that performs as it is supposed to is making boondocking a great experience this year, thank you again to TransWest of Grand Junction.
Our goal today is to drive to Prince George so we can stop at Costco and stock back up our refrigerator. We will then head another 100-150 miles down the road, stopping to top off our diesel before finding another scenic view to boondock at.

This year our shocks performed perfectly and we were able to enjoy the views without rattling our teeth out. The first part of Jasper is newly paved so it is extremely smooth but once you drop down to the river (and frost zone) everything gets a bit more bumpy. Slow down and just take in all of the jaw dropping views. We finally found the perfect pull off that was paved, level, empty and had a great view. After pulling in we let the pups out to run and explore all of the smells while walking down to the river that ran beside the stop. I wish there was some way to bottle up the smells of pine, glacier water, and pure air! As we were walking back to the RV we looked up across the road and saw two mountain goats hanging onto the side of the cliffs, it was fun watching them walk along cracks grazing but unfortunately it is time to buy my next camera lens as I couldn’t get a good shot based on distance and shadows. After a great night sleep (I left the window next to the bed cracked so the clean crisp air came in all night) we were up and on the road by 8am.
