Creative Decor Hacks for Your RV

Decorating your RV and making it yours is super important, especially if you’re going to be spending a lot of your time there. After, all nobody wants to come home to a drab place that’s void of personality, and fun touches that make your RV unique will make the place feel more comfortable.
That said, there isn’t a lot of room for knick-knacks and other clutter in a motorhome or trailer. Therefore, it’s best to find decor items that are functional, nice to look at, and stay out of your way. Fortunately, there are lots of options that fit these criteria.
Here are my top 3 RV decorating ideas. All three are great for small spaces and work harmoniously with RV travel for one reason or another.
#1: Shower Curtains Window Coverings
If you have an older RV, you’ve probably been tempted more than once to pull the old window coverings out and replace them. I say go for it! We did this in our trailer, and I’ve met plenty of others who’ve done the same.
One lady did this and had a particularly good idea that I just had to share. You see, instead of replacing her window dressings with normal curtains, she used fabric shower curtains to create custom covers for her windows. This may seem strange, but it’s actually brilliant because the shower curtains are mold- and mildew-resistant, meaning she will probably never have to deal with mildew spots on her curtains.
Besides that, shower curtains are relatively inexpensive, meaning one could cover their windows for very little money using this idea. Pretty smart if you ask me!
#2: Instant Pot Box
Instant Pots are all the rage in the RV world. They’re multi-functional and quick and easy to use, making them the ideal kitchen gadget for busy and space-deprived travelers. The only issue comes when trying to store the thing.
Because Instant Pots are so big, not every RV has a cabinet it will fit in, so RVers have had to come up with some creative solutions. One of my favorite ideas is to use a storage ottoman. This ottoman in particular is the perfect size and shape for storing an Instant Pot. This means you can store your bulky appliance while also adding seating and a pop of color to your tiny home-on-wheels. Genius!
#3: Throw Pillow Storage
This final idea is one I’ve loved for a while now. We all know that pillows are a great way to add color and personality to a space. However, they’re also pretty space-consuming, and simply tossing pillows on the couch seems like a pretty silly way to use precious RV space.
This is where the pillow storage idea steps in. Instead of putting actual pillows in your throw pillow covers, use the covers to store your extra blankets or winter coats. This gives you a bit of extra storage for those bulky items you might want to get to in a hurry, while still allowing you to decorate your couch with some pretty pillows. I think this is such a great idea, and encourage you all to give it a try!
These simple ideas are just some of the ways you can make your decor functional for RV life. Add these suggestions to some ideas of your own and you're sure to have a lovely and well-functioning home-on-wheels just in time for camping season to begin.
