If you are looking for a South Carolina resort RV campground, this isn’t it. If you are looking for a quiet RV park that is in a great location and LOVES long term rentals, then you are going to love Fain’s. This is one of those off the beaten path campgrounds. It isn’t anything fancy, but the owners are very nice people, it’s clean, it’s quiet, and it’s pretty easy on the wallet.
The Park
Fain’s RV Park is located off Fain Boulevard which runs parallel to Interstate 26. In all honesty, the traffic noise can be a little loud sometimes if you are at the front of the park. You get used to it though. It is in a great location though. There are two super Walmarts within a couple of miles of the park – one in each direction. It is also close to several laundromats, some great grocery stores like Publix and Harris Teeter, and lots of great restaurants. Several pizza places deliver there too.
If you are looking for an RV resort, this isn’t the place. This is a no frills park with friendly owners and great neighbors. They tend to favor long term campers – although there are plenty of short termers who come through – so in most cases you can really get to know your neighbors. Most of the campers work nearby so the population is mostly adults although there are children here from time to time. This campground is safe, clean, and affordable.
The Details
There are around 30 sites and they all have full hookups and 10 are pull through. They have both 30 Amp and 50 Amp power and room for big rigs. The site rental includes parking, utilities, and water. Choose a nightly, weekly, or monthly rate. There is also a dumpster in the rear.
Pets are allowed but they must be on a leash.
They do not have internet but if you are going to stay for any length of time you can get Comcast. Many of the campers use satellite for their cable and internet.
There is a Spinx convenience store right off of Rivers Avenue, very close to the park. You can fuel up, grab a bite, or get a soda. You may be tempted to get your propane there, but go next door and get it from the guy there – it’s a better deal (my special insider tip).
Oh, and there are a couple of Starbucks pretty nearby, in case you were wondering.
Local Attractions
When I say that the location is great, I mean it. Drive just a few miles and you are in downtown Charleston. Drive a few more miles and you are in Mount Pleasant, or at the beach on Sullivan’s Island. You are about 20 minutes from fishing and crabbing at Shem Creek or shopping – lots of shopping with two malls, lots of shopping centers, and a very decent collection of thrift stores. You are very close to many of the great sights and attractions around the Charleston area.
When you visit Charleston, South Carolina consider Fain’s RV Park. It’s a different experience – almost like living with the natives.
