Campfire Breakfast Recipes

Campfire Breakfast Recipes are a great way to start your day! We all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Considering this fact, it only makes sense to make it as delicious and filling as possible.

Obviously, you could just use your RV kitchen to whip up some yummy pancakes and eggs. However, in order to get the true camping experience, it’s a much better idea to cook your breakfast over the open campfire.

This may seem like a lot of effort, especially first thing in the morning. However, as long as you have decent fire-building skills, it doesn’t actually have to be any more difficult than making breakfast indoors. Not only that but cooking over the fire is a whole lot more fun and can be a fun camping tradition the whole family enjoys together.

Wondering what kinds of breakfast foods you might make on a campfire? Below are some of our favorite options.

Cinnamon Twists on a Stick

One of the easiest options on our list, this delicious cinnamon biscuit recipe is also perfect for those with kids who are eager to help. Using canned biscuit dough, a bit of cinnamon and sugar, and a set of roasting sticks, you can create a treat very similar to cinnamon rolls or cinnamon toast that the whole family is sure to love.

Bacon on a Stick

Of course, you’re probably going to want some protein to go along with your cinnamon treats. This is where this super fun bacon-on-a-stick recipe comes into play. The vast majority of people out there appreciate a good, crispy piece of bacon, and we’re betting your entire camping party will want to get in on this fun cooking method.

Best of all, the clean-up after this cooking venture is very minimal.

Breakfast on a Stick

If you’re willing to put a bit more effort into your meal on a stick, this “breakfast on a stick” recipe is absolutely fantastic. The recipe uses smoked (fully cooked) sausage to make a delicious pancake-and-sausage treat that can be eaten on its own or dipped into syrup.

Kids love this special meal, but to be honest, the adults in your group will probably enjoy it just as much as the little ones.

Campfire Skillet Breakfast

Feeling extra hungry? A traditional campfire skillet breakfast might be just the ticket. After all, there’s nothing quite like throwing all your savory breakfast favorites together into a cast iron skillet and enjoying them as one dish.

Cooking this yummy concoction in cast iron over a campfire makes it even better, and the fact that you can customize it means you can ensure everyone enjoys it.

Egg Bake Breakfast Foil Packet

Want something similar to the skillet recipe above, but prefer to skip the actual skillet? This “egg bake” recipe uses foil packets instead of a pan.

The mixture turns out super tasty, and while the original recipe calls for hash browns, eggs, cheese, and ham, you could easily change things up to make the meal your own. Not sure what to add? We love throwing some peppers and onions in with the ingredients already included in the recipe!

Orange Cinnamon Rolls

An interesting twist on a traditional breakfast treat, we adore these campfire orange-cinnamon rolls. Not only are they absolutely delicious, they’re also surprisingly easy to make.

Simply put your cinnamon rolls into a hollowed out orange peel and wrap in foil before placing them into your hot coals. The peel provides the pastry some protection and helps heat the dough evenly while also giving the rolls a slight orange flavor that we just can’t get enough of.

Blueberry Bread Pudding

Yet another delicious sweet treat that can be made on hot coals, blueberry bread pudding cooked in a foil packet is a wonderful addition to any camping menu. The end result isn’t exactly pretty, but it is really tasty and the perfect warm start to a crisp fall day of camping.

It’s also extremely easy to make, meaning the kids can get in on the cooking action. Just be sure to help them when it comes to turning the packets and removing them from the coals.

Pie Iron Breakfast Sandwiches

Want another savory breakfast idea? Why not break out that pie iron you usually use for dessert and make some awesome breakfast sandwiches instead? This website tells you exactly how to make a bacon and egg version, but you can, of course, change up the fillings to suit your tastes.

No matter what you put in the middle, the result is a hot, meaty sandwich that is sure to fill you up and prepare you for a day full of adventure.

Eggs in a Pepper

You could also skip the bread and put your eggs into a bell pepper instead.“Eggs in a bell pepper” is a wonderful savory breakfast dish that will fill you up and ensure you get the day started right with a nice serving of veggies.

These eggs do cook pretty quickly, so be sure to stay close at hand and be ready to enjoy your creation soon after you throw it onto the fire.

Dutch Oven Monkey Bread

Monkey bread is yet another cinnamon recipe that you simply must try. Sure, this can be made in the oven at home. However, nothing beats a batch of Dutch oven monkey bread.

This ooey gooey goodness made in a traditional Dutch oven is beyond delicious, and pulling it apart to share with friends makes enjoying the dish even more fun. Worried about how much work might go into such a treat? Don’t be! It’s as easy to make as it is to eat.

As you can see, there are all kinds of wonderful options when it comes to cooking your first meal of the day over a fire. Try a few of these recipes to find your favorites and tweak them as you see fit.

If you’re feeling really creative, you might even try to come up with some original ideas of your own. After all, you can never have too many foods on a stick, wrapped in foil, or cooked in cast iron!
