Buy your RV With the RVIA Seal
By Cecilia Sturm

The RV industry is flourishing and we are seeing a good mix of all ages joining the family of RV owners. RVing is no longer just for retirees exploring the good life. Today we’re seeing a lot of younger families getting into the RV industry. More and more people in their thirties are calling themselves RVers.

The younger generation is starting to see that the cost comparison, and the fact that RVing is such a fun way to travel, ends up being more beneficial and more memorable than cramping the whole family into the car or rental van and driving hundreds of miles just to stay at cramped hotels with dirty sheets.

Unlike the retirees who tend to travel around North America, sightseeing and taking in all the wonder that our beautiful country has to offer, the younger families are spending more time on the road yet closer to home where they can easily get away to sit in front of a camp fire and hangout under the stars. With more than 16,000 camp grounds nationwide-you can find many of these on our MobileRVing listing-spending a few days in a motorhome is an easy and special family tradition.

What is RVIA?

Whether you are fresh on to the RV experience or a veteran of the voyaged roads, RVIA (the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association) is committed to giving you a definitive RV experience as well as priceless RV education, as stated on their website:

"RVIA also provides free materials to consumers and other publics about RV travel and camping and actively works with the media nationwide to educate the public about the benefits of RVing." -The Recreation Vehicle Industry Association

RVIA is a national association that represents RV manufacturers as well as parts suppliers; which, when combined, produce more than 95% of all RVs manufactured in the USA. Those are some pretty impressive numbers! With headquarters located in Washington, D.C., in the suburb of Reston, Virginia, RVIA is bringing together a force of unification covering the guidelines of safety and professionalism within the RV industry.

The RVIA Manufacture Seal

When you buy an RV with an RVIA seal, you’re buying reliability. The RVIA Standards Department, which maintains the goal of safety enhancement within the RV industry, supplies manufacture members with training tools and educational guides in order to meet the Association goals.

But that isn’t all.
  • When you become an RVIA member, you will be supplied with open access to a monthly publication “The RV Market Report” which will be available to RVIA members through the RVIA web site which details industry shipments by type of vehicle with historical comparisons.
  • Members are given “RVIA Today,” a regular Association newsletter that keeps manufacture members aware of the activities within the Association and the RV industry.
  • RVIA also provides an on-going Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) RV education program for its members.
  • RVIA Department Monthly Standards Bulletins keep manufacturers up–to–date on regulations affecting the RV industry.
  • RVIA Manufacturer members receive inspection review six times a year by a trained RVIA Standards professional to assist in compliance to the many manufacturing standards that apply to RVs (plumbing, heating, fire and life safety, and the electrical systems of the RVs manufacturers by its members in conformance to the NFPA Standard on Recreational Vehicles).

The RVIA Standards primary goal is for the enhancement of safety through the monitoring of the member manufacturer's pledge to build units to be up to optimal standards.

In an effort to promote and protect the RV industry and its members, the Standards Department is committed to providing educational opportunities and training tools for the member manufacturers to utilize in order to meet the Association goals. So you know you are in great hands as an RV owner. Because when these members put an RVIA seal on their product, it tells the customer that they’re buying a quality, American motor home they can depend on.
