Best Laid Plans
So the old saying "the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry" was definitely our experience while home. Everything looked great on paper but when we tried to implement it everything took longer or cost more than expected. Such is life.

So we did get a lot accomplished while back in Florida. We figured out where the water was coming in, found an area we didn't know about where water was coming in, and sealed everything up tight so hopefully we don't have any more water issues. We did figure out that our fiberglass roof will need a complete reseal next year as it is oxidizing and leaving white streaks running down the sides after it rains. To fix the roof we removed all of the caulk that is run around the edge between the fiberglass and the metal. Luckily my husband had the foresight to purchase a $50 cordless Dremel and blades that made easy work of the old caulk removal. We also removed all of the caulk around the two grey tank tubes so we could replace the caps and that is where we found the first major leak. The second area was over our living room windows. From the caulk that came up it was the original caulk from 2003 which was really narrow at that one spot and showed signs that it had water intrusion for some time. We dried it out and resealed it with a wider band of self leveling lap sealant.

One of the best things we did was to add the tool slide out for my husband. That $400 investment has already improved both our organization and my husband’s frustration when searching for tools. We had several tool bags so we reorganized the bags to cover each of the most common repairs. For example he has a bag with his electrical repair tools, tape, and misc for anything electrical that goes wrong. Then he has a bag for anything mechanical, another for plumbing, and another for general carpentry. Then we found a five drawer tool chest at Sears Outlet for $90 that now houses all of his wrenches, ratchets, and larger vehicle tools so he can see without digging.

We had an amazing time at the Daytona 500. We were treated to special behind the scenes passes by NASCAR Campground Network that got us into the garages and pit areas before the races. Our neighbors in the infield thought we were a bit odd since we did the roof repairs while there but for us the weather was perfect and it was fun to watch the cars on the track from the top of the RV while getting something important completed.

We are very excited to be starting a new adventure this year. We have signed up to be Advocare distributers. Our good friends who live a very healthy lifestyle and compete in Iron Man competitions spent a good amount of time talking to us about the company and the products. Jim and I work to live a healthy lifestyle through healthy eating and exercise but still have been seeing a slow creep up in our body size. We are starting the 24 Day Challenge on March 2nd and will keep you updated on any changes we see. The 24 Day Challenge is a package that has a 10 day cleanse and a 14 day max phase to help your body get back on track. It does this through changes in diet, portions, and habits. Sometimes it really helps to have a strict schedule so we can't "cheat" as we normally do.

We are living the dream! Traveling from Florida to Alaska with our two dogs in an RV, pulling our jeep. We sold our home and hit the road full time. We love to jeep, mountain bike, horseback ride, photography, kayak, hike, explore new towns, meet new people, learn new things, and live every minute of life. We still work to pay the bills but found a great job with Southeast Publications that allows us to travel and earn money at the same time. Check out our personal blog page HERE.
