As the end of the year approaches and you finally are past the Christmas hustle and bustle, it is time to plan ringing in the New Year. Another Year gone...can you believe it? Seems the older you get, the faster the time goes by. That is why taking the time to celebrate with loved ones is so important. What better way to celebrate the New Year than getting together with friends and family in your RVs? There are many destinations that will provide you and your family with fantastic memories and plenty of excitement. The holiday will be what you make it when you set out for a New Year’s adventure.
Location, Location, Location.
Being from the West Coast, there are many great locations to ring in the New Year. Some of the best places to visit this time of year are right here in California. Whether you like sand and surf, pine trees and lakes, or miles of desert California is the place to be. Some parks offer special events and organized celebrations to celebrate the holiday.
Big Bear Lake CA
Up above the Inland Empire is an amazing bit of nature that will astound any Mountain Lover. Big Bear is beautiful and full of things to do for everybody. There is skiing or fishing by day and at night there are family events as well as adult only parties to celebrate in style. The ski lodge has a candlelight snow board/ski event that will absolutely take your breath away.
Pismo Beach, CA
Along the Central Coast of California there are some amazing beach spots to make a destination for New Year’s Eve. Day time events would include ATV riding, surf lessons, and plenty of shopping. At night Pismo is also full of excitement and there are several local spots that have live bands rocking in the New Year.
Palm Springs, CA
For the desert lovers, Palm Springs is a win all the way around. There are so many exciting things to do during the day. Hiking, spa days, and dirt bikes are just a start. In the evening, there is the tremendously popular Masquerade Party as well as many other events at the local casinos. If you are looking for an adventurous New Year’s Eve, Palm Springs is the place to be.
The Party Is Where You Are
If you are anything like my family, there is no place better to be than being together. In the past we have traveled to any camping destination, whether it was California, Oregon, or Timbuctoo and created our own party. We keep some of the decorations from Christmas and turn our camp into twinkling tinsel filled miniature Times Square. Including our own version of the ball dropping, which can be done with very little effort as long as you have that creative Aunt in the family. Spend the day decorating and setting up for your “Night on the Campground.” In the evening dress up in your finest flannels or make it a black/white party and have everyone dress in one color or the other. The theme is up to you, but the fun is guaranteed.
So whether you are out for adventure or you find adventure hanging out with Aunt Edna and the family, the RV style New Year’s Eve is exactly what you make it. Dress up, dress down, go to the casinos, or spend a “Night on the Campground.” No matter what…10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1…Have a Happy New Year!
