4 Reasons to Visit Arizona

Recently, my little tribe had the opportunity to stop for a short stay in Arizona. We’ve passed through this beautiful state a few times before, but we’ve never had the chance to stay. Let me just say, we will definitely be back and I can’t believe it’s taken us this long to make time to see it.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend every RVer make a point of visiting the deserts of Arizona.
Here’s why.
#1: Gorgeous Views
Let’s start with what might be surprising to some: Arizona’s deserts are absolutely gorgeous. Forget the sandy, barren wastelands of your imagination. This area of the country is filled with life.
Small shrubs cover the ground, and large cacti tower above. Birds can be seen flying overhead, and the surrounding mountains are lush and green. I was constantly amazed at the amazing views we had from our RV and from our vehicle while driving from place to place.
#2: Free Camping
The only thing better than camping? Free camping! Arizona is filled to the brim with BLM lands. This means that by obtaining a camping pass, you can stay anywhere you like on these lands, free of charge.
While nobody is allowed to stay for more than 14 days on any given spot, you can move from place to place and continue to stay on this government-owned land indefinitely.
#3: Great Weather
Okay, so this one is only true for part of the year; the summers in Arizona are blistering hot, and I recommend avoiding them at all costs. However, the winters are generally quite mild, making them the perfect RV winter haven.
That said, while the winter days are quite lovely in Arizona, you will want to watch out for super cold nights. Occasionally, nighttime temperatures will drop as low as the 20s (°F), so be sure to have plenty of propane available and unhook your water hose before heading to bed.
#4: Amazing Attractions
Last, but far from least, I must mention the attractions found in this state. What I once assumed was a pretty dry, barren place actually offers tons to do.
Our favorite Arizona attractions include:
I hope this inspires you to stop simply passing through Arizona on your way to the west coast. Instead, stop and stay awhile. I promise you’ll enjoy yourself, and you may even see us there because we definitely plan to return!
