If you’ve ever attempted to make an RV bed, you know how frustrating it can be. The small space makes it practically impossible to get the angle you need, and you are often required to remove the mattress from the bed entirely just to get the sheet on.
Of course, the beds do have to be made, meaning this frustration is something that must be dealt with at some point. Fortunately, there are a few ways to make the process a bit easier and get the job done right without all the stress.
Try these options the next time you are required to make the beds in your home-on-wheels.
#1: Double Up
As I mentioned before, making an RV bed often requires removing a mattress entirely from its frame. Therefore, you can save yourself a lot of frustration by putting multiple sheets on at a time.
For example, you might put a fitted sheet on bottom, a mattress pad on top of that, and another fitted sheet on top of that. Then, when it’s time to change out the bedding, all you have to do is remove the top sheet and mattress pad and you’ll be left with a clean, fitted sheet without needing to remove the entire mattress once again.
If you have enough sheets, you can even take it a step further and add another mattress pad and sheet in order to give yourself two sheet changes before the next mattress removal.
#2: Zippered Bedding
You’ve probably seen the zippered children’s bedding that’s meant to make the everyday chore of bed-making a cinch. Well, the fact of the matter is that these things work, and could even work nicely for adults. After all, pulling a zipper is much easier than wrestling with a big comforter, and this is even more true in the cramped quarters of an RV.
Do yourself a favor and invest in some zippered bedding. You’ll probably find yourself making the beds in the mornings a lot more often.
#3: Sheet-Lined Sleeping Bags
For some, bedtime in the camper means turning their tables and couches into beds for their little ones. Unfortunately, putting sheets on these makeshift beds each night is a pain in the neck. That said, there is an easy way around this problem that provides comfy sleeping arrangements for a fraction of the effort.
Sheet-lined sleeping bags are the name of the game. By sewing a flat sheet to fit perfectly into a sleeping bag and adding Velcro or snaps to hold the sheet in place, you create a nice little sleeping pod that can be rolled out each night and rolled up each morning in no time at all. The sheet provides a barrier between the bag and the body, meaning you can replace the sheet from time to time and avoid washing those bulky sleeping bags so often.
I hope these simple solutions help make your RV life a little bit easier. After all, camping isn’t meant to be a stressful experience, and making RV beds is anything but relaxing.
